Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to join the AEi team as an Applications Process Engineer. You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of customer applications, manufacturing, and test processes for the active alignment of cameras in a production environment. As a member of the applications team, this hands-on individual will work with engineering, operations, sales, and the customer.

The ideal candidate will be self motivated and able to complete tasks independently, and be comfortable working with cross-functional teams, sales, and customers. Clear communication /problem solving skills are essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and refine precision manufacturing processes on customized automation machinery developed by AEi for active alignment of precision cameras
  • Create prototype product builds, including process data collection and evaluation against detailed customer requirements.
  • Support for new machine start-up, debug and validation.
  • Collaborate with customers to define specifications and requirements for active alignment, develop application processes and resolve technical and design issues during machine acceptance.
  • Interact with mechanical, electrical, optical, and software engineers, manufacturing, and service technicians to ensure goals for schedule, functionality and budget are met.
  • Preparation of all required support documentation.

Requirements:

  • 5+ yrs industry experience in automated manufacturing, test processes development or capital equipment (optoelectronics, semiconductor, or similar)
  • MS Office Excel proficiency including basic understanding of statistics and related data reduction tools.
  • BS in any of the following engineering disciplines(electrical, computer, software)
  • Initiative and responsibility for successful execution of multiple tasks through all project stages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
  • 10%+ travel expected to support domestic and international customer sites
  • US citizenship or US work permit required
  • Local candidates preferred

Valuable Skills:

  • Knowledge of statistical tools (e.g. Minitab) is preferred.
  • Some programming, machine control sequencing, and experience with PC-based control hardware including motion controllers, National Instruments I/O boards, and machine vision.
  • Familiarity with electrical control and video stream interfaces to CMOS cameras.
  • Familiarity with optics and optical test is a plus
  • Familiarity with UV-initiated adhesives is a plus
