Job Description
Process development of dicing, die-bonding, wire bonding, overmolded lens
Transfers processes to contract manufacturers primarily in Asia
Performs data analysis utilizing DOE, SPC, and FMEA tools regularly throughout product life cycle
Conducts failure mode analysis (FMA) of device and component failures related to subject area
Works with vendors on components for laser modules and tooling/fixtures
G
enerates BOMs, assembly work instructions and engineering reports for new processes/products
Works closely with project team members on conceptual design, vendor and interactions, package prototyping, testing, and performance characterization
Recommends and executes qualification tests for new processes/components
Plan and execute on schemes to improve product yield and reliability
Communicates/contributes effectively in cross-functional teams (such as manufacturing, quality and supply-chain management)
Requirements
MS/PhD in Materials Science or equivalent with 8+ years experience in optoelectronic components industry.
Experience/familiarity with equipment automation and process development for high volume manufacturing
Experience/familiarity interacting/transferring to Contract Manufacturers and knowledge of assembly/equipment capabilities
Experience in materials/process engineering: solder, metalization, epoxy, ceramics in laser products
Experience with overmolded lens and silicone processing
Experience with conventional SMT
processes
Experience
with manual and automated component
attach methods, particularly laser/electrical/optical components sensitive to reliability/performance
Experience with automotive product development and qualification
Familiarity utilizing DOE, SPC, DFX, FMEA, and
qualification standard
Familiarity with conceptual design layout, prototyping, fixture/tooling design
Familiarity with FA techniques such as x-sections, SEM, EDS etc
