Intel Data Center Group DCG – Silicon Photonics Product Division SPPD is looking for a mechanical design engineer in the NPI and Manufacturing Operations team. Responsibilities: o Developing packaging design and technology selection for state of the art Silicon Photonics SiPh devices and assemblieso Identify new suppliers for design, develop and manage existing suppliers o Working with cross-functional groups to determine package requirements. Design from concept to volume production to meet the electrical, optical, mechanical , thermal, and reliability requirementso Performing tolerance analysis of opto-mechanical components and subassemblieso Performing thermal and mechanical Finite Element Analysis FEA analysis of packages and subassemblies, to determine temperature profiles, power dissipation and mechanical stress over temperature etc…o Develop assembly and test tooling and technologieso Designing and assembling fixtures and tooling required for NPI development and productiono Interacting with suppliers and optimize designs based on supplier’s processes and capabilitieso Generating all component drawings, layouts, assembly drawings for product and toolingo Generating Bill of Materials BOM
Minimum Qualifications
Mechanical design Engineer with 8+ years of experience in photonics or semiconductor or related industry
Working knowledge and experience in high volume manufacturing fabrication processes including machining, sheet metal stamping, metal /plastic injection molding and die casting Proficient in Solidworks and other mechanical design and modeling tools
Familiar with enterprise data management system such as ePDM
At least 5 years experience with design precision assembly of optical transceivers
Familiarity with design rules for opto-mechanical products and DFx processes
Knowledge of six-sigma, SPC and process capability
Demonstrated ability to work with and drive cross-functional groups and external partnerso Strong track-record of developing and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems in a timely manner
BS/MS/PhD- Mechanical Engineering, or Optical Engineering
8+ Years of experience in mechanical design, thermal design, or opto-mechanical assembly tooling fixtures and packaging design
