Network Analyst – College Graduate – Sungard Availability Services – Philadelphia, PA

Opportunity:
This opportunity will be joining the Sungard AS Service Design & Realization Transport Engineering team and perform engineering functions including capacity management, lifecycle, network design, lab testing of transport network hardware and software, and execution of projects in support of the Sungard AS Global Transport Network, Sungard AS’s products and MPLS based IP Backbone. This is an entry-level role where you will be exposed to a broad range of network technologies including Photonics, OTN, and Layer-2 switching across multiple data centers around the world. This position will allow you to develop your technical skills and career path towards Engineer.

Responsibilities:
Provide world-class support and technical expertise for Sungard AS internal and external customers

Analyze Shared Core Metro and Longhaul Transport Networks to determine existing and available capacity.

Perform technical network investigations for assigned ITIL Problems. This involves layer 1-3 issues in a state of the art 100G OTN Based Backbone, ROADM Metro and Regional Networks, and Carrier Ethernet Switching

Assist and manage the deployment of ROADM/TOADM networks, transport network elements, and capacity in support of customer requirements

Work in partnership with more senior resources in designing networks and solutions in support of Sungard AS’s bandwidth needs

Escalate Problems to external vendors as required.

Execute lab projects in support of lifecycle, new feature enhancements, and complex network issues.

Follow outlined procedures for customer notification and escalation

Perform network configuration changes in support of capacity and lifecycle activities

Create Statements of Work for the deployment of network and transport network element installation in accordance with all company standards

Assist with the physical design of network space in Sungard AS Data Center build outs to be able to provide the capability to deliver Sungard AS’s services

Develop technical expertise, work towards obtaining industry certifications, and stay current with new and emerging networking technologies

Requirements:
Seeking May 2017 graduates in a related degree program (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology) with 3.0 or above GPA preferred.

Interest in or willing to take additional training courses to further working knowledge; or progress towards the CE-A, CCNA or JNCIA certifications

Knowledge or understanding of layer-1 and layer-2 switching concepts, a plus

Ability to effectively use diagnostic tools

Strong work ethic with the drive to succeed

Ability to learn, respond to demands, and show initiative in a fast-paced, highly technical environment

Strong interpersonal skills

Strong organizational, time management, and service delivery skill

Strong computer skills and proficiency in productivity tools are required.

Effective written and oral communication skills

Ability to travel up to 15% to support installations, augmentations, and upgrades
