Edmund Optics is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Rapid Design and Prototyping. The Senior Project Manager coordinates all activities to meet project cost, schedule, and performance metrics of multiple assigned projects. The principles of Project Management are utilized to ensure adherence to statements of work, completion of schedules, and delivery of required products/services to the customer.
This position will be focused on support of rapid development of proof of concept units that will further relationships with customers and enable the path for future production orders.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate all activities to meet project cost, schedule, and performance of multiple assigned projects
- Assess and develop project feasibilities, project plans, and compliance matrices
- Customer point of contact for external projects
- Interfaces with product line management for spec development on internal projects
- Develop and manage risk assessment and mitigation plans through risk analysis
- Head project meetings and present project schedule and status to customers and management
- Work with design engineer and optical engineer to establish test requirements and resources
- Help to develop and maintain a network of fast turn prototype machine shops
- Help to develop Project Management protocols that work in conjunction with rapid prototypeproof of concept efforts
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations
Qualifications:

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers and various levels of technical staff
- Conflict resolution and negotiation
- Hands-on experience in the development and testing of complex assemblies
- Job Shop manufacturing knowledge
- PC skills: Literacy in MS Projects, Excel, Word, and optical/mechanical design software
- Proven skillset in leading rapid prototypingdevelopment efforts culminating in proof of concept units for customers
Education/Experience:
Minimum B.S. Degree in Optical Sciences, Lasers, Physics or equivalent experience; M.S. preferred; 7 to 10 years previous Program/Project management experience or equivalent in the Optics industry.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for long periods; ability to travel; work in office setting.

- US Citizenship or permanent residence required
