KeyEssential Functions:
Perform experimental work on 100G and 400Gcoherent optical transceivers, including component characterization,prototyping, bring-up, debugging, performance testing, and design verificationtesting (DVT). Conduct theoretical work on next generation coherenttransceivers including digital signal processing (DSP) architecture studies, developmentof models for electrical, optical and electro-optical components, and carryingout of simulations using MATLAB and C++ tools to evaluate the performance ofvarious DSP algorithms. Determine the requirements to electrical, optical, andelectro-optical components.
MinimumQualifications, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications:
PhD (or foreign equivalent) inTelecommunications Engineering, Photonics Engineering or a related field andtwo (2) years of experience performing optical testing and performancemonitoring in coherent optical networks; or in the alternative, Masters degree (or foreign equivalent) in TelecommunicationsEngineering, Photonics Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years ofexperience as indicated above.
Demonstrated expertise (DE) d eveloping, implementing, and testing algorithms for real-timeperformance monitoring of optical signal to noise ratio in coherenttransceivers; DE in digital signal processing and its application fordemodulation of advance modulation formats; DE with optical laboratory equipmentand instrument control, specifically in WDM optical fiber links andmeasurements automation; and DE testing and evaluating short range opticalnetworks, including passive optical networks and in-home networks.
