Job Description
We
are looking for a Kaizen Promotion Office Leader to assist in the development
and deployment of the Lumentum Production System (LPS). Lumentum is
seeking a KPO Leader who is passionate about providing exceptional quality
service, thinks globally, drives key project initiatives that will help manage
sustained process improvements and has the ability to contribute to innovative
ideas. They will lead the site/program level improvement through Kaizens &
facilitating Just do it’s (JDIs) ensuring successful implementation of those
projects.
Change management. The KPO is in the business of change management
as an adviser, trainer, coach and catalyst.
Business system and curriculum development. The KPO is the
organization’s dedicated Lean technical experts. Among other things, they
should help define, conceptualize and tailor a business specific business
system (think TPS) and the related curriculum and training modules.
People development. The kaizen promotion office must help
organization shift from a sensei-dependent enterprise to an employee-driven
kaizen enterprise. This encompasses formal and informal training and
development of the workforce at all levels in both the technical and behavioral
realm.
Kaizen event management. The KPO is the subject matter expert,
guardian and facilitator of event standard work – extending to strategy,
pre-event planning, execution and follow-through.
Daily kaizen deployment. The KPO must help the organization
transition for system-driven kaizen (events only) to principle-driven kaizen
(events and daily kaizen). This means that they must help facilitate the
adoption of a Lean management system, assist in the training and development of
problem-solving employees, facilitate activities such as mini-kaizens and
kaizen circles, and train others to train, facilitate and propagate a daily
kaizen culture.
Kaizen office management. Daily management of activities required
within the KPO team. Sharing responsibilities and learning/ coaching rotating
team members through process.
Kaizen office/Lean deployment improvement. The KPO should
facilitate the “kaizening” of the organization’s kaizen process – both
event-based and daily kaizen. Demonstrate the tools that are applicable to all
processes and be thought leaders within the company to demonstrate.
Kaizen promotion office ROI. While the first seven items are
qualitative in nature, it is expected that the KPO will earn a very sizable
return on investment.
Benefit Quantification. Quantify benefits potential and realized
from the projects in terms of $ savings (ROI) and/or Metric improvements,
obtain sign-off for project closure.
Collaboration. Supports best practice sharing, replication and
standardization across all sites.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business
Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from a reputed institute or
organization
Experience with hands on Kaizen deployment (Toyota Production
System, Shingijutsu, Porsche process improvement experience highly preferred)
Prior experience on training on Lean Six Sigma or Quality
tools/techniques
Prior experience working with statistical tools like JMP, Minitab
etc.
Ability to influence stakeholders across the organization without
direct reporting lines
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex project
roadmaps
Change agent with the ability to lead change across all levels of
the organization and be hands-on to implement improvement design
Execution of Lumentum strategy, support and improve the LPS
program locally and globally
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
along with outstanding facilitation skills
Ability to interpret, analyze, and understand complex data sets
