DHPC is Growing! We are currently in need of an Optical / Photonics Engineer to support one of our customers at the Naval Research Lab (NRL) in D.C. The incumbent will have experience performing optical research, designing and setup of laboratory experiments, data collection and analysis. The incumbent will be developing algorithms, software and firmware to facilitate the detection, tracking and pointing of moving platforms with laboratory and prototype components/systems.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have knowledge in the following areas:

Efficient operating in laboratory environment, designing and setting up experiments with optical and electrical instrumentation

Operating optical laboratory equipment including cameras, light sources, sensors, detectors, spectrophotometers and other laboratory equipment and systems

Software tools such as Matlab, Labview, Visual basic, and Arduino or Rasberry PI environments.

General support and maintenance of research activities in the lab, including specifying, researching and purchasing equipment and materials

Technical writing of lab reports and technical papers

A bachelor’s degree engineering, optics or physics is required; and a Master’s degree in above fields is preferred.

The candidate must be a US citizen and possess DoD Secret security clearance.

Experience with IR Sensors and Counter Measures is a plus

The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and possess and be able to maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance, as a qualification and condition for employment.
