is trained in the use of devices and systems associated with the preparation, installation, alignment, calibration and/or repair of lasers, electrical and electronic equipment, and with the applications associated with equipment used in the Semiconductor industry. EM Technician II installs and troubleshoots electrical/electronic control systems, lasers, and optical systems. In addition to production related tasks, EM Technician II may work with design engineers and scientists concerning the development, installation, and operation of laser, optical and electronic/electrical systems. Responsibilities Set-up and calibrate optical, laser-based or other photonic systems in preparation for final system qualification/certification Troubleshoot and repair electronic and photonic systems to optical, board, and on occasion, component level Identify problems and notify appropriate personnel Maintain a clean and safe work area Perform the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and electrical, optical and mechanical assemblies. Determine and develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings, diagrams and applications. Test and troubleshoot assemblies and/or final systems. May complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing. Work regularly in a Class 100/1000 cleanroom environment. Qualifications Associate’s degree in a technical field (preferably, Laser, Optics, Photonics and/or Electronics) or 3+ years related experience. Proficiency with reading and understanding electrical schematics and block diagrams. Demonstrated ability to rework fine pitch surface mount components with hand tools. Ability to perform basic engineering calculations. Understanding of BOM and ERP systems. Strong technical abilities and aptitude biased toward the understanding and use of computer applications. Motivated self-checker with good written and oral communication skills. Able to work well with other team members and contribute positively to the team. Self-motivated and -disciplined, detail oriented, able to prioritize work, and independently problem solve technical issues. Ability to travel, including international travel.
