THE POSITION: Infinera seeks a professional experienced at marketing technology to global communications and cloud service providers. Infinera is helping transform the networking industry with highly innovative packet optical solutions across subsea, long haul, metro and data center interconnect. These solutions offer scalable optics, flexibility and programmability and are being combined with SDN and NFV to help the industry transform to a new Layer T (intelligent transport) and Layer C (cloud services) architecture. The leader in this role will market Infinera’s end-to-end Intelligent Transport Network architecture to both technical and business decision makers.
The candidate needs to have the maturity to take ownership, be accountable, and transform our vision/strategy into actionable marketing plans while continually tracking progress. This role helps accelerate existing market growth while building awareness in new verticals or geographic market segments globally. The candidate will influence plans at the executive level. The role will report to the Director of Product Marketing.
Key Functions and Responsibilities
This role will create business and technical level messaging with clear value proposition supported by technology and product proof points. The role will also develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns to take the message to the customer, analyst and press community.
The candidate will be primarily:
Building and updating the end-to-end network architecture narrative
Working across business groups and with technical visionaries
Understanding product and solution roadmaps
Creating and refining the network and technology vision
Developing solution positioning and competitive differentiation
Guiding TCO/ROI business cases to demonstrate economic value
Creating original, compelling content including presentations, white-papers, web pages, emails, ads, blog posts, videos, sales collateral
Driving launches, supporting industry events and webinars
Steering diverse teams towards defined, time-bound program goals
Tracking program milestones while managing key stakeholders
Assisting in monthly/quarterly marketing plan preparation and review
Helping measure program success, suggestions to keep improving
Partnering with product, communications, go-to-market and sales teams
Interacting with and presenting to company and customer executives
Staying current on telecom, optical transport and cloud technologies
Monitoring competitive developments, recommending response
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities
The candidate must have a solid understanding of the technology and business aspects of transport networks. The candidate must be a creative thinker connecting the dots of current/emerging market trends and technologies with Infinera’s innovative architectural/technology approach, economic value proposition and competitive advantages.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
15 or more years of experience in telecom or cloud networking
Strong experience with service provider / telecom business
Competent in high technology B2B marketing or product management
Experience with packet-optical transport systems a plus
Familiar with long-haul, metro and data center network architectures
Marketing acumen coupled with lateral creative thinking
Demonstrated ability to craft and deliver persuasive messaging
Proficient in customizing messages by audience in multiple formats
Cogent writing, speaking and visual storytelling skills
Excellent using productivity tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Ability to create, manage and adapt integrated marketing campaigns
Ability to gather and analyze competitive and industry information
Bias for quick execution after a quantitative and qualitative analysis
Intrinsic attention to detail while managing multiple tasks
Earned authority through influence and collaboration
Comfortable interacting at the executive/CxO level
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; MBA a strong plus
