The Systems Architecture Laboratory at Hewlett-Packard Labs has an opening for an intern position with a background in electrical engineering, applied physics, or physics. Our team is looking for a motivated individual to work on one of a number of exciting projects involving silicon photonics circuits (including CMOS drivers for photonic devices), hybrid silicon/quantum dot lasers and detectors, and photonic interconnect networks. Successful candidates will have experience in (a) the design, implementation, and testing of photonic devices and/or driver electronics for photonics devices; or (b) cleanroom fabrication and then characterization of photonic devices; or (c) network architecture and simulation. PhD candidate in electrical engineering, applied physics, physics, computer science, or related areas. Critical skills include experience in (a) design and testing of photonics and/or CMOS circuits; or (b) cleanroom process flows for photonics; or (c) simulation and design of photonic networks. The ability to carry out electronic and photonic measurements is preferred, as is hands-on experience with EDA tools and electronic testing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required for technical reporting and problem solving. |
