Position Summary:
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, this senior engineering position will be involved in hands-on design, testing, and manufacturing of opto-electronic modules and subsystems. This is an ideal position for an ambitious experienced engineer interested in working on very challenging projects and using state-of-the-art engineering hardware and software tools. The person in this position would become a member of highly qualified EE team working at very fast pace on wide range of cutting-edge technologies.
Position Responsibilities and Job Duties:
Designs and tests hardware, firmware, and software
Designs electrical systems with lasers, drivers, motors, controllers, sensors, etc.
Designs and makes system block diagrams and drawings (including drawings for sub-systems, cables, and interfaces)
Develops control and test software using LabView and other development tools
Designs and sets up test systems and fixtures
Collects, compiles, and analyzes data from different test systems and prepare reports
Required Qualifications:
BS or MS in an Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Proficiency with LabView
Knowledge of power electronics
Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics
Knowledge of motors and controllers
Knowledge of control systems (PID, feedback, etc.)
Knowledge and experience with safety requirements (laser safety, electrical system safety, interlocks, shutters, etc.)
Knowledge of industrial interfaces and standards (RS-232/485, EtherCAT, PLCs, etc.)
Hands-on experience with electrical systems (cables, connectors, etc.) and ability to read and generate drawings
Hands-on experience with sensors and interfaces
Hands-on experience with electronic components, boards, sub-systems
Hands-on with Lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, generators, etc.)
Soldering and lab skills (wiring, testing, etc.)
Excellent communication skills
Additional Desired Qualifications:
System design and hands-on experience with laser systems
Analog electronics
Digital systems and microcontrollers, especially Cortex-M
Experience with scanning systems
Familiarity with CE certifications and requirements
Knowledge of C/C++, RTOS
Understanding the design flow and principles of electronic design including schematic, board design, routing, PCB manufacturing (Experience with Altium Designer is a big plus)
