At SA Photonics, we specialize in the design, development and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art communications, laser electro-optic, vision and mechanical systems for military, space and commercial applications. Some of our products and technologies include optical communication systems for fiber, free-space and underwater applications, LIDAR systems, fiber laser systems, and head mounted display systems for military and commercial applications.
SA Photonics has a small team of highly experienced engineers and scientists. We are currently looking for an Optical System Integration Engineer to join our team. Responsibilities include:
Integration of complex systems involving optics, fiber optics, electronics, software, firmware, and mechanical sub-assemblies.
First article test of subsystem and system level assemblies for performance verification, stress testing and environmental compliance.
Alignment of laser and/or optical systems.
Troubleshooting of system and subsystem failures.
Development of test procedures and test stations.
Support transition of engineering prototypes into production.
Support field testing with occasional travel to off-site and out of state locations.
The successful candidate will have the following qualities/experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (preferably Optical Engineering or Physics) with at least three years of applicable experience in electronic and/or optical system integration and test.
Strong knowledge of optics and fiber optic systems.
GUI/Control system Software development a plus
Excellent hands-on and laboratory skills in building, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of optical, fiber optic, electrical, and/or mechanical subsystems.
Proactive, organized, self-motivated individual, requiring minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
