We are currently searching for a Principal Systems Engineer- Advanced Radio Systems (ARS) to join our team in Columbia MD. The Advanced Radio Systems (ARS) section of the Advanced Technology Center has an opening for an RF systems engineer. ARS is responsible for developing beyond the state-of-the-art advanced radio systems for RCI’s future military/commercial communication and navigation radio systems.

The ideal candidate will have working experience with the concept of operations for advanced systems/technologies relevant to Department of Defense needs. Our customer base includes the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The candidate should be familiar with one or more of the following;

  • Advanced semiconductor processing and characterization
  • Analog, digital or radio frequency integrated circuits
  • Electronically scanned arrays
  • Microwave systems (transmitters, receivers, software defined radios)

Additional experience with the following is desirable;

  • Systems modeling and analysis
  • Proposal writing
  • Electronic warfare
  • Management of complex technical programs

The successful applicant will work with the Rockwell Collins Photonics Systems group to;

  • Develop innovative business opportunities
  • Either contribute to or lead proposal efforts
  • Either support or lead programs
  • Write reports detailing test results to stakeholders, including government sponsors
  • Create and manage forward looking internal R&D programs

Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor’s or higher degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
  • Be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. US Citizenship is required.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication abilities, along with confident presentation skills
  • Work well in a group environment to include engineers, technicians, and support personnel
