Job Description

Uses predictive modeling, statistics, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and other data analysis techniques to collect, explore, and extract insights from structure and unstructured data . Develop software, algorithms and applications to apply mathematics to data, perform large scale experimentation and build data driven apps to translate data into intelligence, solve a variety of business problems and enable business strategy. Assists business with casual inferences & observations with finding patterns , relationships in data. Must possess strong understanding of internal business segment stakeholders and possess strong written and communication skills. Typically requires expertise in relational database structures, research methods, machine learning, Cloud based technologies, Big Data technologies i.e. Hadoop , HBase, Lucene/Solr, analytics packages i.e. R, Mahout, Matlab, Octave, Weka, scripting languages i.e. Python, Perl, programing languages i.e. Java, C/C++, SQL. Typically possesses advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Operation Research, and Statistics or equivalent expertise.

Qualifications

You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor. Experience would be obtained through your educational level research and/or relevant job/internship experiences. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics or equivalent education and 4+ years of relevant experience. Proficiency in statistical analysis intermediate level, quantitative analytics, mathematical modeling, optimization of algorithms, and data munging. Data Engineering principles and competencies required: working knowledge of database technology including basic fluency with relational databases and SQL. Strong Proficiency in: One of more of the following languages: R, Python, C++, C, or Java and the ability to apply Hadoop to database applications. Experience in designing database tables and schemas.Ability to explain complex analysis concepts to engineers and managers not necessarily skilled in analytics. . The ideal candidate must exhibit the following behavioral traits: – Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities. – Presentation skills in line with being able to work with and influence business stakeholders. – Good written and oral communication skills, including strong skill in documentation and code commenting. General Description: As an Applied Data Scientist, you will focus on the design, creation, processing, management and analytics of data repositories that derive intelligent insights and support data science and analytics needs of the Silicon Photonics System Group SPPD. You will be developing new analysis capabilities for SPPD design and Fab engineers and will have strong influence how these data are analyzed and the results presented to engineers and management. This will include identifying existing relationship and exploring potential “what-if” scenarios. This Position requires expertise in relational database structures, machine learning, Big Data technologies i.e. Hive, Impala, Spark , analytics packages i.e. R, Matlab, python, and similar, programming languages i.e. Java, C/C++, SQL. Candidates typically possesses advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Operation Research, and Statistics or equivalent expertise. Your work will include prototyping solutions during Research and Development phases, where you will envision, share, and articulate modeling approaches. This includes developing hypothesis and testing them via controlled experiments. Knowledge of test equipment and data collection are thus desirable to help interpret signals and provide context. Your skills will be called upon to understand and work around possible limitations in models, then develop extensible, scalable, reliable software for high volume, real-time and batch data processing. You will also participate in the process turn-over from product development to high volume manufacturing or to IT for lifecycle management. To enable the above, you will develop data models and repositories to support rapid prototyping and machine learning analytics flow creation. You will apply mathematical algorithms and applications to data, perform agile experimentation and build data driven services to translate data into intelligence. As such, experience in displaying quantitative information through web interfaces is also highly desirable, as are experience in applying visual display of information and/or UX principles Inside this Business Group
