Research Assocaite/Scientist – 2W iTech – San Diego, CA

Based in San Diego California, 2W iTech LLC is developing innovative nano-enabled technologies for water treatment and water contamination monitoring and transferring them to commercial products. We are seeking a motivated person to join our team as a Research Associate/Scientist. Technologies we are developing include a novel thin film nanocomposite reverse osmosis (RO) membrane and an ultrasensitive photonic crystal based chemical sensor. The membrane development will involve preparation and surface modification of nanoparticles, layer-by-layer assembly of nanoparticles and molecules, and evaluation of the membranes. These skills will also be required for the chemical sensor development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop novel RO membranes and chemical sensors;
• Work on other projects if needed;
• Work with a group of researchers and coworkers as a team.

Qualifications:

• A Ph.D in Chemistry, Materials Science or other related scientific disciplines;
• Background in nanoparticle synthesis, surface modification, layer-by-layer assembly, organic synthesis, and molecular imprinting is preferred;
• Familiarity with reverse osmosis membrane chemistry is a plus;
• Must be able to multitask, have good problem solving, trouble shooting and organization skills;
• Must have excellent communication, report and proposal writing skills;
• Must be detail-oriented.
