Lumentum is seeking a bright, motivated individual to contribute to the development of a variety of highly-innovative and market-leading high power single-mode and multi-mode semiconductor lasers for telecom, industrial and consumer applications.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience with LabVIEW programming. C#, Visual Studio or equivalent languages for process control, data acquisition, and machine vision also helpful
Expertise in process automation, system integration, equipment development and programming (HW/SW)
Expertise with machine vision systems and equipment (HW/SW)
Familiar with six-sigma techniques, e.g., design for manufacturability/reliability (DFx), SPC, GR&R
Experience in process and equipment for fabricating and assembling optical components is desirable
Experience in process and equipment for automatic optical alignment system is desirable
Knowledge of optics, fiber optics, optical design, tolerance analysis is preferred
Education should be BS/MS/PhD in optical, electrical, physical engineering or equivalent with 5+ years experience in automation equipment development
US citizenship or permanent residency allows greater program flexibility
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Integration Engineer developing high precision automated manufacturing and test systems
Collaborate with Optical and Mechanical Engineering team in development of automated production equipment
Develop associated optical component manufacturing processes and transfer to manufacturing
Work closely with team members on conceptual design layout, vendor interaction, prototyping, testing, and performance characterization
Contributes to failure mode analysis (FMA) and qualification of systems, especially related to automated processes
Perform data analysis utilizing DOE, SPC, and FMEA tools regularly throughout product life cycle
