This position will be responsible for specification, development and validation of ADAS and Self-Driving technologies in automotive applications plus all LiDAR system features, component and system definition and requirements.
Will play a lead role in setting technical direction for LiDAR products and components.
What You Will Be Doing
– Responsible to lead customer projects to ensure successful integration of the company’s offerings
– Translates customer requirements into design documents for engineering and marketing, contributes to design decisions, recommends advanced new designs or processes or makes changes to existing to meet requirements
– Evaluate internal and external engineering design change requests
– Develop Design Verification, Plan & Report (DVP&R) incorporating all external, customer-specific and internal functional and performance requirements, while maximizing subassembly design re-use and tool reuse
– Execute DVP&R, assisting with test setup and fixturing, identifying external testing resources and managing testing through completion
– Responsible for evaluating customer specifications and translating the system requirements into SW tracking systems (such as DOORS) to meet requirements for test and functionality traceability
– Support technical activities regarding sensor fusion, active safety, ADAS, Autonomous vehicles, Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and other emerging applications for laser illumination module product line
– Develop, maintain, and communicate system requirements and implementation time estimates for inclusion in technical and marketing roadmaps
– Write functional / feature requirements, subsystem and / or component level requirements
– Participate in all major design reviews to ensure designs meet customer requirements & specifications
– Execute system, subsystem and /or component level testing and validation
– Execute DVP&R, assisting with test setup and fixturing, identifying external testing resources and managing testing through completion
Customer Engagement
– Customer presentations, interfacing with OEMs and Tier 1s on technical topic
– Responsible for software and system demonstrations developed for customers, strategic partners and conferences
– Leads technical discussions with internal and external customers, help prepare and present response to RFIs, RFPs and RFQs into ADAS systems
Product Support
-Support system FMEA process & develop DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) for recording potential failure modes and planned corrective Actions
– Provide support to application teams for identification of root cause of problems a corrective action to resolve them
– Apply ISO 26262 to the management of safety related requirements
– Fosters a team environment and work across both technical and business operations to determine best options for long term product development
– Assistance with other tasks as needed and determined by Management related to LiDAR implementations
– Responsible for leadership and assistance in the development of new products, and changes to existing products to meet corporate objectives
– Leads the problem resolution and tracking process and provides feedback on status to tracked problems
– Must be able to accept personal responsibility and accountability for major analytical and planning assignments
– Evaluate and recommends options consistent with industry best practices
– Execute system, subsystem and /or component level testing and validation
What You Need for this Position
Minimum of 10 years’ experience with automotive electronic/electromechanical products directly related to ADAS & Autonomous Driving
7+ years of ADAS experience, minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Active Safety Systems
Minimum of 2 years exposure or direct experience with LiDAR systems
Track record of excellence and innovation in engineering analysis and design
Strong knowledge of:
— State-of-the-art systems engineering principles, hardware and software design concepts
— AEC-Q100 requirements, APQP and PPAP
— Current and upcoming advanced driver assistance systems (e.g. LKA, LCC, ACC, LDW, FCW, AEB, self-parking systems)
— Requirements engineering management process interpreting from design to production
— Requirements management tools such as DOORS
— Knowledge and execution of review with change management
— Strong knowledge of system (component and vehicle level) testing and validation
Experience with FMEA methods and tools (e.g. APIS IQ FMEA)
Experience working with global teams as well as managing remote teams
Working knowledge of:
— functional safety requirements (ISO 26262) and automotive quality requirements (ISO/TS 16949)
— microprocessor, automotive ECU, electrical / electronic hardware, embedded software
— automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, automotive Ethernet)
— automotive vehicle mechanical and electrical system architectures (e.g., distributed vs centralized control systems)
Excellent English skills – both spoken and written
Must be able to travel on short notice and for extended periods of time up to 20% supporting internal and customer development trips
Core Competencies
Advanced working knowledge of optics and photonics
Experience designing sensor fusion architectures and systems for Automotive Applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills applicable to both engineering and marketing disciplines as well as internal & external customers
Experience with automotive active safety systems and products
Must demonstrate ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans
Demonstrate strong teamwork skills by developing consensus and win-win situations
