Responsibilities
Role and Responsibilities:
The candidate will serve as an onsite contractor working within the AFRL team on either experimental or theoretical questions relating to photonic materials such as:
Liquid crystal materials – nematics, cholosterics, host materials, activators, dopants, etc.
Photo-refractive materials – inorganic crystals and semiconductors, ferroelectrics
Optical thin films, coatings, or dyes.
Holographic materials.
Ceramics, nanomaterials, and metamaterials.
Engaging in:
Theoretical modeling/design, and/or
Experimental development of, and/or
Inspection and analysis of, and/or
Process research and development
For topics of current interest such as:
Fixed and active/responsive materials for single or bi-directional optical filters and protection devices, or
Materials for use in, or protection of, opto-electronic or opto-mechanical devices.
Support an ongoing, vibrant, and active research effort located at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), in the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate in the research group of a highly-regarded government customer.
