Research Specialist – Medical Engineering

The Opportunity

The Morgridge Institute for Research seeks a research specialist to support research projects and day-to-day operations of the Skala Lab within the Medical Engineering research focus area. The Skala lab is a new research lab within the Morgridge Institute. The lab collaborates with UW-Madison Biomedical Engineering to develop new methods to understand and combat cancer using photonics-based technologies and is particularly interested in developing personalized cancer treatment strategies, and in developing more effective cancer therapies. The Research Specialist will be responsible for cell culture and animal handling, help with imaging experiments, as well as enforcebiosafety, animal and human research regulations and guidelines. This position will also assist with supporting grant applications.

 

Candidate Requirements

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical engineeringor related field. Graduate training in engineering or biologicalsciences is preferred.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience with laboratory research, maintaining equipment, cell culture, and mentorship.  Candidates must have strong writing and communication skills, ability to work well with others, be highly responsible and organized, work both independently and within a dynamic research team.
