INDUSTRY LIAISON OFFICER, Materials Processing Center- American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics (AIM) Photonics Institute , to create, oversee, and manage activities at MIT’s Education & Practice Factory , including developing curriculum and working with professors and industry to identify projects for students. Will also reach out to and inform companies of opportunities in integrated photonics and ways to engage with AIM Academy , including through Education & Practice Factory projects. This will be the first of many factories created along the I-90 corridor. Responsibilities include preparing standard operating procedures manuals; guiding the second Education & Practice Factory, selecting a third site, and identifying a fourth; designing first pilot/test case education product for the factory; recruiting companies to participate; working with companies to define a second education product to be produced both in the factory and in collaboration with an AIM Photonics member or local company; developing modules on variation, factory design and flow, assembly, process control, and inventory with integrated photonic context; piloting manufacturing modules with first cohort of students and deploying modules; identifying companies with “latent competencies” in integrated photonics; developing and implementing a community outreach program; collaborating with professional societies to provide seminars, workshops, or poster sessions; and managing grants.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in photonic technology engineering and applications; industry and academic experience in integrated photonics and applications of integrated photonics in systems applications; experience working in government-funded projects and international collaborations; experience with granting and monitoring research funding; excellent project management skills; experience creating and managing interdisciplinary, multi-organization research projects in industry and academia; experience instructing/supervising graduate and undergraduate students; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment; team-orientation; strong writing skills; and comfort giving presentations.
