Faculty Position in Neuroengineering in the College of Engineering – University of California Santa Barbara – Santa Barbara, CA

The College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a faculty position in the area of Neuroscience as part of the Brain Initiative in Neuroengineering with a start date of fall quarter, 2017.

We seek candidates with demonstrated accomplishments developing innovative and transformative tools for neuroscience. Candidates with thriving research programs are desirable. Specific research areas include, but are not limited to: optical techniques for neuroimaging; neuro-photonics; micro/nanotechnologies for neuroscience; engineered tools for optogenetics; and brain-machine interfaces.

As an integral member of the UCSB Brain Initiative, the candidate will enhance and build upon UCSB’s core strength in engineering, creating a collaborative research environment that bridges departments including engineering; molecular, cellular and developmental biology; physics, and/or psychological & brain sciences. Responsibilities include teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in addition to developing an outstanding program of research.

Applicants for this position must have a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field. Applicants at the tenured level must have a demonstrated record of outstanding research accomplishments and teaching credentials. At the pre-tenure level one must demonstrate a vision for pioneering research and be committed to excellence in teaching.

Candidates will be appointed to one of UCSB’s engineering departments (Chemical Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer Engineering; Materials; Mechanical Engineering), based on their expertise and may be affiliated with UCSB’s Bioengineering program.
