Responsibilities: The AOI Chaired professor in Biosensing will be a dynamic individual who will provide vision, leadership and guidance for a new program in the multidisciplinary field of biomedical sensing, research, and translational medicine. The faculty member will develop a national and international world class program in noninvasive sensor technology related to the biomedical field. The medical modalities can include laser sensors, photonics, applied electromagnetics, millimeter wave, terahertz imaging, or closely related technology. The faculty member will work closely with multiple departments to assemble interdisciplinary teams to develop and investigate new sensor technologies and applications of biosensors. The College of Engineering is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Required Qualifications: Qualifications and attributes for the successful candidate include a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, biophysics, biomedical engineering, or a closely associated field. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of excellence in biomedical research or a related field. The candidate must have demonstrated effective leadership, management and communication with faculty, staff, and students as well as other leaders in electrical engineering, biophysics, biomedical, medical device sensor research areas, and technology. The candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to seek and obtain external funding.

College of Engineering
The MU College of Engineering (http://engineering.missouri.edu/) includes 9 disciplines and 130 faculty members, 3,319 undergraduates, and 600 graduate students. The College is currently recruiting for 40-50 new faculty in biomedical innovations, big data analytics, and sustainability. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs through the doctoral level.
The College of Engineering is home to numerous research centers, signature programs, and laboratories. Major research strength areas include big data analytics, pattern recognition and machine learning, bioinformatics and medical informatics, cyber security, high-performance computing, image processing and graphics, physical and power electronics, geospatial intelligence, eldercare and rehabilitation technology, nano/micro systems, signal processing, computer vision, and robotics. We also house our own office of Diversity and Outreach Initiatives, an Inclusivity Center, and a Women in Engineering Center.
Areas of strength at MU include a world renowned Veterinary Medicine College on the same campus as an innovative School of Medicine and teaching hospital, an outstanding animal sciences department and a College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources.
