Photonics R&D team is
looking
for a
Photonic Integrated
Circuits (PICs)
laser designer
to engage in the product development of the next generation transmission
components. Large Scale PICs present unique interdisciplinary engineering
challenges in their design, fabrication, characterization, and control.
The successful candidate will be joining the
team that leads the world in the development of Large Scale PICs for 100Gb/s
transmission, and will be at the forefront of the next generation components
R&D ( &gt

;400 Gb/s). The responsibilities will be spanning from the concepts
through the
design and development
into the manufacturing phase.
Job Description
Responsible for the
design and development of transmission components based on III/V PICs.
Job responsibilities include:

  • Optical and electronic
    modeling/simulation of active and passive elements of photonic integrated
    circuits
  • Integrated laser analysis, design, and
    optimization
  • Mask layout
  • Close interaction with and guidance for
    process integration engineers to establish and refine PIC fabrication
    process
  • Characterization methodology and
    statistical data analysis

Requirements

  • Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, Photonics
    or a related discipline with emphasis in optical

    communications and PIC development in the InP material system
  • Strong background and hands-on experience
    in development of semiconductor integrated lasers such as tunable lasers,
    DFBs, DBRs
  • Strong background in optical simulations,
    test, and analysis of integrated devices, passive and active
  • Detailed knowledge of semiconductor
    process technology for photonic devices
  • Hands-on experience with optical and
    electronic modeling/simulation tools, such as Fimwave, Lumerical/FDTD,
    Comsol, Matlab, etc.
  • Experience in lithographic mask
    specification, design and pattern generation
  • Experience in creating design of
    experiments and statistical analysis of experimental data using tools such
    as JMP
  • Experience in optoelectronic device
    characterization and automated testing as required in design and
    development
  • Good communication skills,
    self-motivation, and team player attributes
  • US citizenship or
    permanent residency preferred
