OPPORTUNITY
Luminar Technologies, Inc . is currently seeking applicants for a Senior Laser Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team in Orlando.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, document, maintain, and improve optical manufacturing processes and procedures and set standard process times in terms of effort and duration.
Design and develop the laser production assembly and test stations to meet the quality and manufacturing performance objectives.
Lead the laser manufacturing NPI planning and execution activities in conjunction with the overall plans.
Assess and assist with the assembly, testing and inspection of the optical, electro-optical, and opto-mechanical assemblies and piece parts for initial prototyping and ramp production.
Collaborate with the design team and provide design feedback for manufacturability, serviceability, and reliability.
Support the production team with troubleshooting all optical system and sub system issues.
Provide support to sustain and enhance production by providing guidance with the analysis and resolution of quality issues relating to product, process, and production stations.
Prepare tools and provide training and support to manufacturing personnel with initial builds and as necessary with ramp production.
Initiate change requests to update the bill of materials and related process documentation.
Perform equipment, process, and testing validation.
Write detailed work instructions including assembly, test, material inspection and validation procedures.
Create and direct equipment calibration, maintenance, and new equipment procurement specification for all analytical instruments used in laser production.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
BS/MS in Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics.
Minimum of (6) years’ experience in an optics and photonics production environment deploying complex production processes.
Experience in assembling, handling, and testing opto-mechanical and electro-optic assemblies and sub-systems.
Experience with fusion splicing fiber and fiber processing techniques.
Experience in technical Production Engineering and quality methodology such as statistical process control and FMEA is a plus.
Working knowledge of best practices in optical, electro-optical, and opto-mechanical design and testing.
Familiarity with optics design software such as Zemax is a plus.
Knowledge and experience with Labview, MatLab, and MathCad.
Self-starter who is highly motivated and takes initiative.
Works well under pressure in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
Effective written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
Must possess good organizational and prioritization skills to lead teams and address multiple parallel projects and expectations.
Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
