GW’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE ) provides leading edge programs in electrical and computer engineering in order to provide leadership in a rapidly evolving global information society in the service of humanity and to advance the state of knowledge in our disciplines by actively pursuing scholarly research for
publication and dissemination.
Post Doctoral Scientist will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI), and will
assist with Nanophotonic Device Physics and Test, Electrooptic Modulators.
Responsibilities Include:
Conducts research in optoelectronics,
devices, nanophotonics, and plasmonics, which includes building and improving optical and opto-electronic measurement setups.
Obtains and analyzes experimental and theoretical data to include conducting numerical simulations.
Develops theories and novel concepts on nanophotonic device performance with focus
on electrooptic and electroabsorptive
modulation towards attojoule efficient and
100+GHz fast performance metrics.
Advises and trains student on research, equipment use and understanding details.
Presents scientific findings at conferences and workshops Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Require’s a PhD in the field or in a related area.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in opto-electronic devices with focus on electrooptic modulation.
Background in solidstate physics, photonics, and plasmonics.
Experience in electrooptic device characterization to include: highspeed,
biterrorratetesting, extinction ratio, insertion loss, cavity resonances, silicon photonics device testing, fibertochip coupling.
Efficient collaborator and student mentorship qualities.
