Sr. Systems Engineer – Ciena – Englewood, CO

DUTIES: Perform network and applications engineering for the Ciena product family using Optical and Ethernet technologies. Complete network designs for customer application of Ciena networking products using software design tools. Consult with potential and current customers on application of Ciena products for next generation architectures. Prepare quotations and assist in proposal preparation for Ciena products and upgrading network design. Provide product and technical expertise to support sales efforts of Ciena products. Prepare and Deliver presentations of designs and applications. Influence customers and interface with sales group and product management/marketing to develop and/or propose product enhancements to meet customer requirements. 30%-50% domestic/international travel required.

Required Skills
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Engineering with a concentration in Telecommunications. One (1) year of experience in a highly technical position working with customers within the fiber optics telecommunications industry. One (1) year of experience working with a Tier 1 Telecommunications Service Provider. One (1) year of experience with Ethernet switching technologies across Metro Ethernet networks. One (1) year of experience with Optical networks involving Layer 0 Photonics and Layer 1 TDM and OTN switching across Terrestrial and Submarine Optical networks. One (1) year of experience designing and planning optical networks using Software simulation design tools. Experience with delivering presentations to a variety of audiences (4-6 per year). 30%-50% domestic/international travel required.
