Accountant, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting
Reporting to the Director of the Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting group, the Technical Accountant will be responsible for accounting and reporting of various complex transactions which may include; revenue, leases, restructuring activity, stock-based compensation and pensions. The successful candidate will heavily liaise with external auditors and other Lumentum functional groups, including global HR, FP&A, Legal, Treasury and Operational finance teams. The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and have strong working knowledge U.S. GAAP. Additionally they will be a hands-on team player possessing solid organizational and communication skills.

Key responsibilities:
Responsible for orders review, contract review and revenue accounting and reporting.
Responsible for the preparation of audit schedules assigned by management
Responsible for month-end close activities of complex transactions including recurring activities such as leases, ARO, pension, impairment analysis as well as non-recurring activities such as restructuring
Assist with the preparation of external reporting to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q’s and Form 8-K (earning release); coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure a timely review and filing process; maintain and update SEC filings documents and supporting schedules in Workiva
Assist with technical accounting research including the drafting of memos and position papers surrounding complex transactions
Formulation and execution of an annual internal audit and Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”) plan
Accountability for outside consultants/contractors to assist with SOX responsibilities as well as with other initiatives, as necessary
Coordination and evaluation of quarterly SOX certifications
Reviewing all company processes and streamlining them and improving them, as necessary
Perform ad-hoc projects assigned by management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
U.S. CPA strongly preferred
3+ years overall accounting experience
Combination of public accounting and technology company experience preferred
Excellent written and spoken English language skills
Strong U.S. GAAP working knowledge
Strong systems knowledge (Oracle, Workiva, Equity Edge and Hyperion Essbase preferred).
Strong collaboration and cross-functional influencing skills
Must be able to work in a high-paced team environment
Must have a “can do” attitude
