Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering | Tufts University

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Tufts University invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in Electrical and Computer Engineering to begin in September 2023. We are seeking candidates at the rank of Associate Professor, but exceptional candidates at the rank of Assistant or Full Professor will also be considered.

This search is part of a broader hiring campaign by the School of Engineering to grow its research and educational capabilities in engineering for sustainability. The School of Engineering is deeply committed to developing pragmatic, innovative solutions for environmentally and socially responsible use of energy and materials applying methods that minimize environmental damage to the natural environment. Currently, tenure-stream faculty searches are ongoing in four of the six academic departments centered on the common themes of climate change and sustainable materials. Candidates applying for this position should express how their research goals align with this sustainability theme.

Candidates are sought primarily in one of the following areas or closely related fields:

• Computer Engineering with focus including, but not limited to, security; embedded and real-time systems; computer architecture; and computer systems. In these areas, we are interested in new emerging applications such as mobile and wearable computing; quantum computing; machine learning; autonomous vehicles and robotics.
• Electronic materials with focus on epitaxial growth (e.g. MBE) and fabrication of novel devices for emerging applications: e.g. renewable energy, power electronics, millimeter wave and terahertz, photonics, quantum computing, spintronics, and other next generation technologies.

Electrical and Computer Engineering has grown significantly in the past twenty years. Located in the Boston area, the department benefits from outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, collaborative faculty, and cross-disciplinary research opportunities. The successful candidate will join an active department that offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs, and thus must demonstrate excellence in teaching as well as the potential to develop an internationally recognized research program. Teaching responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate courses. A doctorate is required.
