The Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Iowa invites applications for a Research Scientist in exciting research and development of semiconductor infrared optoelectronics / photonics. This is a one-year specified-term position, with possible extension. Duties include:
- Micro- and nano-fabrication of novel device concepts
- Molecular beam epitaxial growth of semiconductor nanostructures
- Device design, testing and characterization
- Writing papers and making presentations
- Assisting with grant and contract applications
The ideal candidate will have a background in optoelectronics, device microfabrication (RIE, e-beam evaporation, photolithography, e-beam lithography), and III-V MBE growth; and excellent writing and communication skills. Experience in characterization techniques such as optical measurements, LIV characterization, electro- and photo-luminescence, x-ray diffraction, Hall measurements, is a plus. Experience with optical design packages is also a plus. A Ph.D. in physics, electrical and computer engineering, optics or related field is required.
