Job Description
Nazarbayev University is seeking highly-qualified faculty at the Full Professor rank to join its rapidly developing Department of Physics in the School of Sciences and Humanities (SSH). Candidates from all areas of experimental, theoretical and computational physics will be considered, with particular attention to Material Science, Condensed Matter and Quantum Physics, Photonics, Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Initial contract is for a period of three years and is renewable upon positive review.
Main duties:
• active research and grant-seeking activity;
• teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses with the typical load of 2 courses per semester;
• supervision of undergraduate and graduate students;
• curricular and program development;
• service duties;
• general program guidance and leadership;
• other activities related to the intellectual and cultural environment of the university.
Qualifications
Successful applicants will have the following qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Physics or related field and international Postdoctoral experience;
• Demonstrated track record of excellence in research, strong potential to establish a vigorous research program;
• Excellent English-language communication and collaboration skills;
• Strong instruction skills and in-depth teaching experience;
• Mentoring experience in supervising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
• Commitment to maintain a collegial and inclusive work environment.
