The Optical Imaging System Laboratory (https://oisl.creol.ucf.edu/) at CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida is seeking postdoctoral scholars to work in the fast-growing field of photonic computing and imaging. Specific areas of interests are the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in optics and optical/photonic instrumentation for computing, computational imaging, and numerical methods in optical/photonic design and modeling. Candidates with one or more of the following backgrounds/skills are encouraged to apply for the position:
- Computational imaging and machine learning (ML) based image processing: Fluent in high-level interpreted language (python/matlab) and have experience in one of the popular ML frameworks.
- System level instrumentation: Have a good foundation in electrical circuitry and familiar with embedded system development. Experience in high-speed data acquisition and signal generation is a plus.
- Photonic modeling: Familiar with numerical methods (finite difference, frequency/time domain solvers) in photonic simulation, and can use commercial photonic simulation software for device optimization.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in optics and photonics, engineering, physical sciences, computer science, or other closely related disciplines at the time of appointment. Please send a CV to Dr. Sean Pang, [email protected].
CREOL is one of the world’s foremost institutions for research and education in optics and photonic science and engineering. The college offers Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in optics and photonics, and a B.S. degree in photonic science and engineering. The faculty engages in fundamental and applied research and education in lasers, optical fibers, semiconductor and integrated photonic devices, nonlinear and quantum optics, imaging, sensing, and displays. The college is home to the Florida Photonics Center of Excellence (FPCE), the Townes Laser Institute (TLI), and the Institute for the Frontier of Attosecond Science and Technology (iFAST). In addition, the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the College of Sciences provide rich opportunities for collaboration. For more information visit www.creol.ucf.edu.
