The postdoctoral researcher’s principal area of responsibility is to design and implement a free-space optical system for 2D material processing and single-photon emission. This involves studying single-photon emitter from 2D materials, building a single-photon detection system, and conducting numerical modeling of quantum systems. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to interact with professors, scientists, and students in the University of Dayton’s Department of Physics, Department of Electro-Optics and Photonics, and with sponsors and peer research groups at other universities. Responsibilities also include participation in the dissemination of knowledge to train others in the area for future workforce needs, writing reports, publishing work in the public domain, and developing new research proposals.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. Minimum Qualifications

(a) Doctoral degree in Optics, Physics, or related field (completion of degree requirements expected at hire);
(b) Demonstrable publishing record;
(c) Fluent English writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

(d) Experience with single-photon detection
(e) Experience with 2D materials
(f) Experience with CW and femtosecond laser
(g) Experience in building free-space optical systems and weak signal detection system
